Make your movie go wobbly with compiz-fusion aiglx on ubuntu

Ever You see compiz or beryl. Their effects I mean, all the stuff about put your desktop in to a cup and then rotate it or move your windows just too see it go wobbly. And so many nice effect that I won't bother to mention here one by one because that is not the point. So what's the point of all that's candy. Is it use full?? Well it's main functionality was to entertain you, and that was candy all about doesn't it? So who have a problem about it doesn't have another functionality ? You just have to not install it then.

Okay back to the old days. First time I know those candy was the one called compiz on Xgl. First I see the rotating desktop and a wobbly movie, I thought it was an aplle the Tiger maybe. But wow surprisingly it was linux after all! An ubuntu dapper drake.

Okay enough for the introduction because I never good at it. Let's cut to the point. Since the first time I success installing the candy on my machine either beryl nor compiz or even compiz fusion won't give me a wobbly movie. A wobbly windows yes but not the movie. I ever see a real wobbly movie but it ran on Xgl not on Aiglx. So I thought we need Xgl to make the wobbly movie. But considering the Xgl was a lot heavier I prefer to stick with my aiglx and forget the wobbly movie.

And then something happen in a couple days ago. I can make my movie wobbly on my compiz fusion that run on aiglx on my ubuntu gutsy. And the big secret is...... First I play a mp3 music with Rhythmbox , and then while the music still playing. I double clicking a movie to play it with Totem. Then when I'm moving the movie window the movie turn woblly along with the Totem window. Surprised, I repeat again. Amazed, then I try to put the window to the corner of the desktop so it's splited between to desktop. And the movie still playing when I try to hold the cube in the middle of rotation. It's still playing when I rotate the cube! The last, believe this the effect remain when I turn off both Rhythmbox and Totem. Of course to gain the effect you must do the ritual one again once you restart your machine.

It works for me event I don't know how. So I like to know if it's work for you too or maybe someone willing to share the knowledge and explain the how.

Anyway cheers.
